Free Brand-New Books

I signed up for this thing at Thomas Nelson where I get to choose a book from their pile and they send it to me free. All I have to do is review the book on my blog, set up some links, and review it on book-buying sites, like Amazon, etc. I can go at my own pace and when I finish, I just go back and choose a new book!

So right now I have the brand new Kiss by Ted Dekker and Erin Healy! It's on my table, begging to be read.

Just thought I'd pass this uber cool news on to any of you who like to read.

I signed up for that months ago. Ordered my book, received e-mail updates, but never received the book. I can't order another because I don't have the original one to review.

Real bummer!

Glad you got your copy, though!

I did it too and got my book fast! But still reading it to post the information!

I wish I had to time to do that, but right now I've got books at home signed by author friends, but no time to read them.

Too much blogging, plus I'm trying to finish writing my current manuscript. Hoping for 75,000 words. So far at 62+.
I see you finished yours. Congrats!

If my TBR pile wasn't so huge, I'd totally sign up!

Hope you enjoy the experience!

I've got a thing like that with HarperCollins YA books, but I haven't taken advantage of it much. Just too busy, ya know?

Neato! You'll have blog bling waiting over at my place in tomorrow's post. :)

That does stink, Eileen. Do you think it's because you're in Canada? :-(

Hey Terri,
Cool! Did you get one of those devotionals?

LOL Morgan
I know what you mean. Blogging def. takes up tons of time. (Not that I'm complaining; I love it too much!)
Sounds like you're trucking along with the manuscript! Go you. :-)

Janna, my TBR pile is huge too. It was smaller when I signed up, but I keep winning books off of blogs. LOL Plus the ones I've already had. grrr...
I hope I enjoy it too. I'll let you all know in my review.

Yeah, I do know Kristen. That's why I like it that there's no deadline. I can do it at my own pace.
So I didn't realize other publishers do this. Very cool.

Kathryn, so far I like it. But I haven't done anything yet. LOL
Hi Jess -

I left a comment this morning, but I get it didn't get through.

The Thomas Nelson program is a good way to promote authors and get free reading material. I joined several months ago, and reviewed "Billy."

Eileen, the same thing happened to me. I ordered a book, and did not receive it. A quick email to Thomas Nelson resulted in them sending out another copy.

Blessings,
Susan :)

I signed up for this when it first started. I'm on my 4th book now. It's a fun program, but I do feel a little bit of pressure to read the book, since I know I need to review it. It is reallly a win/win situation. You get free books, and TN gets free publicity.

Ditto Janna's comment above. I already have a HUGE TBR pile, and if I were feeling pressed to review them, I think it would freeze me up in other areas.

But it's great for those who are avid readers and have a bit more time than me!

Hi Susan,
I may remember that book. I'll have to go back and check.

It feels like a win/win situation too, to me, Jen. LOL You've read four? Awesome.

Anita,
My time does seem to be slipping away. Something will have to go, but bookworm that I am, books will never go. Hehee. Esp. not ones that are free and are my fave authors! LOL

That is so cool. I will have to check it out!
I'll have to write them then. Thanks for letting me know you had the same issue, Susan. I was thinking that it might be a Canadian thing, but why would they let me register in that case. Must have just gotten lost or never left the door.

Sounds like a neat opportunity. Enjoy your reading. If you really, really like something I might just have to give it a read, too!

Cool blog, Jessica.

Reviewing books is great. Authors always want to know what readers think.

Cheers!

Hey Karen,
I thought it was a great opportunity too. What kind of fiction do you like to read?
Jessica Nelson said…
Hi Nancy,
Thanks for stopping by my blog.
:-) You're right, they do. I kind of wonder if Dekker cares anymore though, since he's so famous. If I understood right, this is Healy's first book, so she might be really interested in the reviews.

Thanks for the info about Thomas Nelson's free books. I signed up but haven't gotten an email back from them yet. I'm hoping for their book "This is Your Brain on Joy." We're having a women's retreat on the subject of joy later this month, and I'd like to read that book so I can have something meaningful to contribute to discussions.

Carol,
I received an e-mail the next day, so make sure they got your info.
:-) Have fun with the book! It has a great title.
