Christmas is for Kissing! (book giveaways)

Actually, mistletoe is for kissing, but I really do enjoy Christmas romances. You might've seen my posts on Facebook, but two of my critique partners have Christmas romance novellas that just released. These ladies are fabulous writers and I'm so excited for them!

Introducing....

Polar Bear Plunge by Linda Glaz
Striving to put meaning back into her life after her husband’s death, Aleni Callan immerses herself in hospital work. Angry with God, she finds herself even angrier, when hero, Brice Taylor, author of The Human Shield, arrives in the Emergency Room with a concussion and hypothermia after participating in the Polar Bear Plunge. Aleni wants nothing to do with a man who willingly takes chances with his life.
Brice doesn’t understood how God could bring him through being a captive in Iraq, when he failed his troops so miserably. Writing about his escape brings fame he would rather avoid. And by meeting widow, Aleni Callan, his feelings of failure only increase.
Megan Callan with the help of her three-year-old grandson, Ty, scheme to bring Aleni and Brice together. And while the best laid plans often go awry, Megan isn’t one to accept no.

Linda Glaz:
I’m a wife and mother of three. I balance being a child of God while also being older than God. Hmmm, scary, but almost true. I’ve been blessed to have had an amazing life so far: Air Force meteorologist during Vietnam era, teaching karate and self-defense along with soccer for 25+ years. I sing and direct in church and community theatre musicals where this little old lady sounds more like the guys than the gals. Also scary, but true. I work in a physical therapy clinic three days a week to earn money to keep my writing afloat. My writing life is a 24/7 proposition. When not writing my own stories, I am an agent for Hartline Literary Agency. I wear so many different hats I’m surprised I wasn’t invited to the Royal wedding. Blessings to everyone, may your writing dreams all come true.

Savanna's Gift by Camille Eide
When Savanna gets a second chance at the love of her life, will the dream that once divided them get in the way?
Just before Christmas, Savanna Holt returns to the ski lodge where she once worked hoping to deliver her goddaughter to the child’s grandparents and flee the mountain resort before memories of one special Christmas there reminds her how ambition led her to make the worst mistake of her life.
But Savanna is stunned to discover Luke, the man whose heart she broke three years ago, now manages the resort. Seeing him reminds her of what she lost, but Luke wants no reminders of his hurt. He’s changed, but so has she.
When a blizzard traps her at the lodge over Christmas, she sees the forced proximity as a gift from God and is determined to win Luke back. Can she convince Luke she has changed and her interest isn't because of his position? And when her dream job beckons, will she sacrifice her dream for a second chance at love?

Camille Eide writes contemporary romantic women’s fiction and was a 2009 Zondervan First Novel Competition finalist and a 2011 Genesis winner. She lives in the evergreen Cascade foothills near Portland, Oregon with her hero of 28 years and is mom to three brilliant college-age kids. She’s a church secretary, a bassist, and a passably devoted fan of classic rock, Harleys, sappy flicks, muscle cars, and Jane Austen.
A cynic saved by grace, Camille sometimes remembers to turn that amazing grace around and use it on others. And either because of or in spite of that grace, she holds a PhD in Learning Stuff the Hard Way.
Camille is a member of the Oregon Christian Writers, The American Christian Fiction Writers and the Portland Chapter ACFW where she serves on the board as Treasurer. She has attended Mount Hermon, ACFW, and local OCW writing conferences. She belongs to Randy Ingermanson’s Columbia River Christian Writers and other Christian writing communities that cultivate literary excellence.
When she’s not pounding the keyboard, they let her play bass guitar and sing in the worship band. Camille knows how to do a bunch of random things like baking four dozen cinnamon rolls in a flash for a crowd of drooling young adults.

Hi, I enjoyed reading about the books and the authors. They are very talented ladies! My favorite Christmas movie is It's a Wonderful Life. Since I'm a children's writer, I have to admit that I really haven't read many Christmas romances, although I am sure there are many of them out there and I love reading stories about Christmas. By the way, there is also a give a way over on my blog! I invite you and your readers to come over and enter.

Hi Janet! I'll be stopping by later. That's one Christmas movie I haven't seen but I've heard so much about it.

Like Janet, I'd have to say, It's a Wonderful Life. I've read so many Christmas romances this year I can't remember all the names--the fun of having an Ereader :) Thanks for telling me about two more!

Oh, that's tough! Favorite of all-time?? But there are so many good ones!

Christmas Story is an absolute classic.

Elf is 100% hilarious.

And It's a Wonderful Life....sigh.

Sounds like great stories. I just finished reading my first Christmas romance. A Broken Christmas by Claire Ashgrove, and wow, I'm going to have to try more. It was very powerful and gritty!! So realistic.
Jessica Nelson said…
Hi Sandra, gosh, that's a lot of books! lol Good for you. :-)

Katie, oops, what is A Christmas Story? That's one I don't think I know.

Hey Linda, wow, I'm going to check that out. Your review makes it sound super good!
Oh fun! I love Christmas Vacation and Elf. And the Charlie Brown Christmas, does that count?

My favorite Christmas Romance is either Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman in While You Were Sleeping, oh I love that and that movie, so it might be a favorite as well.

Oooh, I forgot that movie was set at Christmas! YES, good one Jessica!

I have SO many favorite Christmas movies! Elf, A Christmas Carol (the one with Patrick Stewart and the one with Mickey Mouse - lol), It's a Wonderful Life... as for books, I've always loved a picture book called The Story of Holly and Ivy.
Jessica Nelson said…
Oooh, pretty title for the book. Have never heard of it though. A lot of people seem to like Elf.

Love reading about these Christmas romances! :)

Favorite Christmas Movie: Scrooge with Alastair Sim as Scrooge. We can't have Christmas until I watch that film.
Jessica Nelson said…
I wonder if I've seen that one? Good pick. :-)

Favorite Christmas movie is probably A Christmas Story. :) You can't beat a classic. I also love the orginial Miracle on 34th Street.

As far as books, in second grade I got a 12 days of Christmas book featuring two bears and very intricate pictures. I loved the details and still have the book today.
Congrats to both lovely ladies--how exciting to have a book out when everyone is in a buying mood!

My fave Christmas movie is Silent Mouse, which I mentioned on my blog this week, a sweet story of the creation of the song Silent Night.

My favorite Christmas romance is Miracle on 34th St. The MC's can't stand each other at first, then end up together by the movie's end. It's a classic!

My fave Christmas movie is Holiday Inn, starring Bing Crosby, Vera Allen, and Fred Astaire. I know it's not as renown as White Christmas and It's A Wonderful Life, but I enjoy it.

I can't remember the last Christmas Christian romance I've read. My favorite Christian romance, though, would have to be Deanne Gist's Deep In The Heart Of Trouble. I love her realistic heroine Essie and the hilarious ways she overcomes her struggles.

I hate to copy Brandi, but Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn!
Jessica Nelson said…
Hey Stacy, oh yeah, I definitely like Miracle. That's a good one.

Jeanette, I saw your post. :-) That's a movie I've never heard even a squeak about. *grin*

Hey Brandi,
I think my mom has that movie too. I liked Gist's Deep also but the twist in it threw me so bad that I never read the sequel. I would though if I saw it somewhere because I really did like Essie a lot.

Hi Tracy, thanks for revisiting. :-)

Hi Amy,
Gosh, now maybe I need to watch that? lol
Great post, Jess! I enjoyed learning about these authors and their books.

My favorite Christmas movie is...you know the one with Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed. Argh! I'm having one of those senior moments.

Blessings,
Susan :)

Both those books sound great! I love Christmas and I love romances. I just watched The Holiday, which is set around Christmas, AND it's a romance. Great mix.

The first book sound really good. And I love the title.

(Don't enter me, though. I predominantly only read YA novels, with a few exceptions)

Can I choose Elf as my favorite Christmas movie. So, amazingly funny!

Hmm, favorite Christmas movie of all time would have to be Home Alone, with Home Alone 2 as a close second.

As for romantic Christmas movies, While You Were Sleeping is one of my faves. :)
Hello my little Christmas Elf! Don't enter me in the drawing, I already have a TBR pile that's leaning over me like the tower of Pisa. Heh.

Congrats to your awesome crit pals! Both books sound fab, as are you for giving them away to some lucky winner for the holidays. :)

Oh, my fave Christmas movie is The Sound of Music, even though it's not a Christmas themed movie per say.

Hi, Jessica,
First time visiting your blog. I keep seeing your friendly face at other blogs I visit and decided to stop by. And now I have to confess a bit of envy because you're crit partners with Camille Eide. She's such a delight, fun person!
I just finished reading both Camille's book & Linda's book too. Enjoyed them both ve-ery much!
I'll answer the question anyway: Favorite Christmas movie: It's an absolute tie between It's a Wonderful Life & White Christmas.
Favorite Christmas romance book? I can't choose. I really can't.

These sound like good books. I don't care to be entered in the contest, but I love Christmas themed movies and books. My favorite Christmas movies are The Santa Clause and It's A Wonderful Life. I also love the romance, An Affair to remember, where the fantastic ending takes place at Christmas. It's a stunner.

Linda sounds like such a fun person to know, doesn't she?
we watch several movies every year around this time: A Christmas Story, It's a Wonderful Life, and of course, with a kiddo, all those classic Christmas stories, such as Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman (i'm talking OLD school).

as for Christmas romance, I'd have to go with While you were Sleeping....since that movie is in my DVD player right now! I also really like Love Actually, which is set around Christmas.
Jennifer Shirk said…
I LOVE It's a Wonderful Life, Elf, and Polar Express.
I love While you Were Sleeping and Love, Actually too! So many to choose. LOL
