Play or "Die"

I've been tagged by Penny Lane! If I don't play I've been threatened with "Death", *wink* so here goes...

1. Do you have a "secret" author, genre, book, or magazine you read but rarely fess up to?(give an example) Okay, I'll admit it. I love Linda Howard's books, most of them at least. They're graphic and have language, but I love the deep emotional pull of her romances, and the cool suspense.

2. What genre of movies is your favorite? What about movies you wouldn't normally fess up to liking? I like romantic comedies. Normally, I wouldn't confess to liking Napoleon Dynamite...but I do! LOL

3. If you could have any job in the world, what would it be and why do you like it? I think we all know the answer to this! Heehee

4. If you could change something about your personality, what would it be? When confronted with an emotionally charged atmosphere I tend to freeze up and not know how to react. I guess I wish I'd get a backbone.

5. What character from any film matches your personality and traits most accurately? And why? I have no clue. Really. Are there any characters that are shy romantics with their head stuck in a book? That might be me. Then again, I'm pretty practical and scheduled with my kiddos.

6. If you had to go on any reality TV show which one would you choose? America's Next Top Model, 'cause I'm skinny and tall. Ha! That, American Idol and Top Chef are the only ones I really know about, and I can't cook at all, nor sing.

7. What is the worse outfit you have ever worn? Honestly, did you think you looked good at the time? I've never cared too much about clothes so if I wore a terrible outfit I probably didn't know it or didn't care. :-)

8. If you had to have one animal part attached to your body permanently (e.g. rabbit ears, a cat's tail, bird's wings) what would you choose? I would really love to have wings. When I was a little girl I daydreamed about flying a lot! Tried it too, but I never could. LOL

Now it's your turn! If you decide to play on your blog, let me know, otherwise I'd love to see your answers to one or more of these questions!

Thanks Pen Pen, for exposing all my secrets!

What a fun post!! I might play later... GOSH (Napolean Dynamite style) :)
Jessica Nelson said…
LOL Katie,
Does this mean someone else my age likes that movie? Yay!
Karen Hossink said…
OK, now I'm worried about you.
You liked Napolean Dynamite???
Someone recommended it to my husband, so we rented it. And in watching, well, I just didn't get it. What was the point???
I, uh, didn't end up sticking around to watch the whole thing. Maybe if I had, I would have liked it?
*grin*

LOL Karen! :-) That's why so many didn't. Actually, I really didn't think it was great until the end, and then suddenly, it just seemed like this lighthearted movie, almost stupid, with a deeper meaning that I didn't "get" until the end. That's just my thought, though. :-)
I promise, my hubby who loves Stupid and More Stupid (or whatever it's called) and other really dumb movies, couldn't stand ND and doesn't know why I like it either. *grin*

#6. I'd love to be on Next Food Network Star. :)

Angie,
That would be so fun! You always post about neat recipes and dishes. Have you ever filled out the form to be on there? Or applied?
Very cute! Love the tidbits about you.

I'm the same way with emotionally charged situations. I always think of the best thing to say long after the instance, but in it, I freeze. Guess that's why we are writers. We have all the time we want to to think of the perfect thing to say.

That was fun! I too need to grow a backbone as well so don't feel too bad. Too bad we couldn't all be good and nice, then we wouldn't need one lol! BTW, I would so choose wings! That was a lot of fun, thank you for sharing!

What a fun post! I love Napolean Dynamite also (and Dumb and Dumber, shh...don't tell anyone!)
Jessica Nelson said…
Thanks Janna. :-) Penny and her friend Aimee asked some good ones. :-)
Jessica Nelson said…
LOL Jessie! You're so right. After replaying the situation a million times in our head, three days later we know the perfect line. Sigh.
If only there was warning, then we could prepare, right?
Jessica Nelson said…
Hi T. Anne,
Thanks for stopping by. :-) It was hard answering some of those. So nice people don't have backbones? LOL I'd love to find a way to get one and still be nice. Heehee
Jessica Nelson said…
Jill,
I promise I won't tell! It's embarrassing, right? LOL

Isn't it great that as writers we can let loose on the zingers, even if we can't in real life? :) Loved learning more about you!

Your blog photo is lovely so I'm sure Tyra would take you. :O)

Animal part- WINGS!!! I'd love wings!
Mag I love; 'Frankie' (it's australian)
Loved this post. Fun:)

Hi Jody,
It is. I love a good bicker between my characters, or one character saying something so harsh, so completely bold and true.... I love it!
Thanks for stopping by Jody. :-)
Jessica Nelson said…
Hi Diane,
Thank you, but I actually take really bad pics. :-)
Jessica Nelson said…
Hi Tabitha! Now I have to look up that mag. LOL Wings would be wonderful.

Fun! I feel like I know you a little better now. I don't really watch many reality shows either so I'd have a tough time answering that.

Mr. Perfect is one of my totally favorite books and I am in love with Sam. Now you know my deep dark secret.
Keli Gwyn said…
How fun to get a new view of you, Jessica.

#4 I wish a had a better sense of humor and the ability to make people laugh. I'm a terrible joke teller. If I don't laugh at my own joke before I even get it out, I often reach the end and muff the punchline--or forget it entirely. When it's my turn to be Joke Master at Toastmasters, my knees knock something fierce. :)
Jessica Nelson said…
Hi Stephanie,
Yeah, some of these questions were pretty tough. :-)
Jessica Nelson said…
Oooh, Tina! Sam is verrrrry hunky. :-) I remember that book well. LOL!
Jessica Nelson said…
Hey Keli,
Well, if you can laugh with others, that's the important thing. :-) I'm a horrible joke teller too, so don't feel bad. You made me smile at the laughing before finishing because I totally do that too! LOL

I used to always dream about flying too! Still have those dreams now and then.
I think you sell yourself too short with who you are;
Jessica Nelson said…
Ouch Terri! I hope I don't do that... I've always thought I had a healthy self-esteem... I hope I've been right. LOL So how do you think I sell myself short?

It's kind of fun to think about, but I think we'll fly someday, don't you? :-)
I love that you are practical and scheduled with your kiddos. What a great trait in a mom!

I would love to have wings, too, especially when my life gets poopy. I would fly to Ireland or Hawaii and come back a new woman. Maybe.
back in rosie o'donnell's heyday...i would have said we had a lot in common (think her in League of Their Own). unfortunately, people said i looked like her, too! yikes! but then i went to college and my nickname there was xena - tall, long straight dark hair, blue eyes. so i played it up and wore a xena costume for halloween that year.....much better than rosie in the flintstones or something. :)
Deb Shucka said…
It was great getting to know you better here. I'm quite a bit older than you, and I love Napoleon Dynamite. I would love to be on Amazing Race, but so far have been unable to convince anyone in my life to join me.
Jessica Nelson said…
Eeek!!! Deb, LOL, my mom has been trying to talk me into going on that show with her! Snort!! If you ever want a partner my mom would totally do it! :-)
Jessica Nelson said…
Hey Jeanette,
I've heard Ireland is gorgeous! :-)Thanks to Nora Roberts, I now want to visit. LOL
As for the new woman... well, we can always hope for change, right? :-)
Jessica Nelson said…
Hi Jeannie,
Wow, I never even thought of you looking like Rosie O. Seriously, you're so pretty! Go you on playing up the Xena factor. :-)

YAY!
1)I've actually read a Linda Howard! AND- I read this really graphic and strange romance novel once about a woman in new Orleans who get this old Greek jug with figures on it-She puts a spell on a jug and the guy on it comes to life and she has to hide him in her town house. It was craziness, but I finished it while floating in the pool, so that was fun :)
2)I love Napoleon too! My friend and I spent an afternoon trying to learn his dance once-It's hard!
3) EXACTLY!!!
4) AWW! I do that too!! I blank out! BUT-If I have some time to think and write out what I have to say, I can express things very well. Does that happen for you too?!
5)You could be a cross between both Jane and Elizabeth Bennet.
6)...Are u one of the "naturally skinny" people?! I'm not so lucky :)
7)AhHAHA! :)
8)WIngs! I tried to fly too! Jumped off the brick wall by our house- Didn't break anything, but got in lots of trouble! :)

Thanks for answering all my questions lovely!!! I'm SO glad I got to know more about u! NOw-When ur a huge published author, I can sell the goods to a tabloid :)
Jessica Nelson said…
Hey Pen Pen,
Don't you dare sell the goods! Well, maybe if you get a million bucks it'll be okay. LOL!
Yeah, I didn't even know Napoleon's dance was good until my dad said it was awesome. (he used to dance tons, back in the day, lol)
Yes, I'm a naturally skinny person so I feel weird going to the gym. But I will gain weight, just not super easily. And when I do, it's all in my bottom half. Very annoying. But I'm thankful I got my daddy's metabolism. :-) One less worry, right?
Ahhh, I remember the days of jumping off things, just hoping, hoping, hoping I'd stay in the air for a few seconds. LOL Glad I'm not the only "jumper". Heehee.
Thank you for tagging me for this fun game! :-)
