Changes

First, a huge thanks to every single one of you who left comments on my previous post. I appreciate all the prayers and sweet words. Everything is good here now, smoothing out, but there are changes possibly coming.

The biggest of which might be me getting a full-time job.

I have an interview tomorrow, so whoever wants to pray, have at it! I don't like that someone else will be watching my kids all day. That's going to be very hard for me.I'll also have less blogging time. For those of you who work, I really don't know how you do it.

Since this change a little difficult for me to swallow, I need a pick-me-up.

Anyone have great news to share? Has something good happened to you recently?

Jessica, my heart goes out to you. How tough it must be for you to face going to work and not being with your children all day. I hope you find a job well suited to your gifts and talents and a childcare provider you're totally comfortable with.

Jessica - I will be praying for you. That is tough. Just remember, the first month is the hardest...something about that transition from staying home to working. I go through it every August, when I'm used to being at home and all of a sudden, I'm spending eight hours at this job. So give yourself lots of grace. Expect things to feel overwhelming. Pray, pray, pray. And eventually, things DO get easier. You'll get in a rhythm that works for your family. It might not feel like it at first, but you really will.

News for me is that my book is going to pub board in mid april. We'll see what God has planned.

I'm curious - what job are you applying for?

Hi Keli,
You always have a way with words! Thank you so much for your sweet comment. ;-)

Katie,
I've been thinking of you and how you get up SO early...I'm wanting a bank teller position. It's what I know and what I think I'm good at for now. The hours also made me think of you, since it's an all day type of job. And no internet! Wah!!! I've gotten so spoiled.
Thanks for your tips. :-) I'll try to remember to take it easy the first month. A dirty carpet won't kill me, will it??? *grin*
Jessica,

I'll be thinking of you in the changes. Here's something: in all the sadness of what I've been going through I can still claim that God is good.

Hey Jessie. My prayers are always with you and your family!

I'm with Katie above. There's a lull you settle into when you don't work (for me, it's called summer break--heh). But you'll settle into a rhythm when you DO work. It all falls into place. Upside? Maybe you won't have to work for too long. ;-)

Let's see ... good news? I just finished MS #6, AND wrote a synopsis that I HOPE will knock my agent's socks off. It's always nice to have a project "finished" and be anticipating starting a new one.

Hang in there, my friend!

Katie pretty much said everything I was thinking, except so much better than I could've managed!

It will be a struggle at first, but don't be hard on yourself.

Good luck on the interview!

Very true, Wendy. :-) Thank you!

Hey Anita, I can't believe it's #6 for you! And I can't wait to read your synopsis either. I know your manuscripts knock MY socks off!

Thanks Megan. :-) Guess I gotta brace myself for the initial transition, but it's nice to know things will settle down.

How about if we get you pubbed? I think that would be wonderful for you guys and wonderful for the readers as well.

Hey sis.....Though it might be difficult at first, I am confident that you'll be able to do it... I'll be praying that you won't have to work for long so that you can focus on your kids and writing.

Something good, In 4 days I'll be in Florida and we'll get to hang out with you....super excited!!!
Jessie: YOu are so sweet, to ask about our lives when you're in this time of transition.

But of course I wlll pray!

Good news: Jesus is alive and well. No amount of government shenanigans can scare Him off the throne!

I love you dearly,
Jen

Aw, I'm sure that was a hard decision to make. I'll pray for you!

Here's some news: I'm planning a tea birthday party for my 8 year old. I will have 9 little "ladies" (with their dolls) in my house next week. My DD wants tea served in china cups, sugar cubes for the tea, and finger sandwiches. LOL

Yeah, I gotta get me one of those job thingies too. Very soon. I've taken way too much time off.

Good luck on your interview!

Ps. I loved my chocolates. Thanks :)

Yikes, Jenni, it's that soon!!!! Wow, time flies. I can't wait. :-)

Linda, LOL, that sounds great to me!

Very true, Jeanette! Thank you, sweet lady. :-)

Thanks for the prayers, Jennifer. Your party sounds SO adorable!!! What a cutie. :-)

Very funny, Karen! If you try to get a job, what do you think you'll apply for?
I'm glad you liked the chocolates.:-) If you didn't, I might worry a little. Ha!

I feel like I'm in the same boat as you! Today is my first day back to work after having my baby. Sure, she's going to Grandma's house all day (can't beat that for a babysitter), but it was still hard to leave her this morning. I keep getting tears in my eyes. Ugg.

*hugs* Jessica. Just remember who you are. That you're loved. Watched over. And adored. :) (Doesn't take away the hard things, but sometimes it is enough to pierce a small hole through the clouds so you can see the sky.)

I had a hard time going back to work. It definitely takes time. Good luck with the interview.
Hi Jessica, I wish you well for your future. Things will turn out for the best, I am sure.
A small blog post from you to let us know how you are doing will be great.

Take care
Hold onto your faith, it is what keeps you strong.

Linda, that's SO hard! I went back to work after my first for a few weeks. I totally know how you feel. You're right though, at least she's with her grandma. That's SO much better than daycare.

Patti, Dara, Glynis and Danyelle, thanks for your wonderful thoughts and comments!

Hey, Jessica, I'm so thankful that whatever you last posted about is smoothing out. I'm so glad that God knows the ins and outs and desires of your hearts. :)

I pray that God will watch over you and your family as your seek a new job, arrange day-care, and settle into a new routine for awhile.

Jessica, you and your family will be in my prayers. Sometimes it's so difficult to know what's best, and we have to trust that God is firmly in control and we're in His hands. Blessings.

I will be praying for you! That kind of change can be difficult, but God will show you the way:) Hang in there!

Oh no. I'm praying that God will find a way for you to stay home. But if it doesn't work out that way, I hope you find a job that really adds to your life. Good luck!

Jessica,
Oh, change is SOOO hard. Lord, please take Jessica's hand and lead her through this uncharted territory.

Hmmm. I anticipate Easter and fresh insights to Christ's sacrifice to resonate in my soul.

He is risen!!!! And we have too, thanks to Him.

*hugs* I know it's a hard change... and wow, writing and working fulltime is not easy, I won't lie! But it can be done, and God gives you strength!

Oh, and you're right, dirty floors won't kill anyone! SO don't stress about them!!! :-)

I know you can do this and like me, we can only hope this season in our life is temporary:)) I'll be praying!
PS I heard back from the other job. They haven't hired anyone yet.

Big cyber hug! When my boys were small I worked full time. I have to admit I was not a fan of that situation. I prayed hard for seven years and the Lord was good. I've been home ever since. I'm praying a miracle for you. God has a plan. =) While I was at work I touch a few people for Christ. Two of whom became saved. I'm sure you have a purpose wherever you go!
Wow, Jessica! I'll be praying! I understand... this new job I have (which I love) definitely takes away from blogging time. We'll be here whenever you can!
I'm thinking of and praying for you! Keep us posted.

Nothing exciting since we last talked - ;) - but I'm holding out. I need something great.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for your job interview! I'm sure you will manage to find time to do everything, being the capable person you are! Lots of good things have been happening lately :) It's been an all around good month!

Don't know what to say, except that I believe God provides. If you needed this job, God provided it, and he will for your kids, too. That was a tough choice for us to make, too, Cheryl going back to work, but it has worked. God bless.
Jessica Nelson said…
The capable person, huh Julie? LOL That made me smile.

Thank you each and everyone of you! I LOVE your comments. They really do encourage and uplift me. I wish I could give each of you a big hug!!!!
Jessica, I'm praying for you. When I read this, though, I must admit that the first thing that popped into my head was how lucky your co-workers and those who meet you on your job will be to see such a beautiful woman smiling back at them.

It's never easy working while raising kids. I worked part-time off and on until my youngest was six. But the one thing I do believe my children gained from me not always being there is confidence in themselves. I'll pray that you see the benefits to this life change as well, and that the transition goes smoothly, and of course for your job hunting, too.

I'm glad your situation is better. Most of us have to work when we have children at some time or other. I will pray for the best for you. It's so good to have you back on the blog. I missed you.
Elana Johnson said…
Oh, Jessica, I don't know if I should pray that you get the job or not. There's nothing harder than going to work when you've got kids at home. I know, I've been doing it for 10 years. But you can manage. You will find the time to do exactly what needs to be done.

I wish I had better news to share. Sadly, I do not.
Jessica Nelson said…
Eileen, that was such a kind, sweet comment! Thank you. :-) I love knowing you're praying for me.

Thanks Nancy! I hope I can get back into the rhythm of it all soon!

Thanks Elana, That's key, I think, using our time wisely.

I worked when my son was a baby, and it was hard. I'm sure you will be able to find someone you trust to help with your children. I've talked to a lot of moms who actually don't prefer to stay home with their children. Your heart is in the right place, and your children will know this.

My good news...I finally pulled all my maternity clothes out of my closet and boxed them up.
Hi Jess -

Praying your transition will be smooth. It's good to read your posts again. :)

My good news - I had a phone interview today, and have a regular interview scheduled for April 16th. There's one other possibility, but the recruiter hasn't gotten back to me.

Blessings,
Susan
