The Pile By My Bed
First, a whole bunch of Amish books by two bestselling authors. I picked up one the other night and set it down at page 15. Sorry, but it was SO boring. I picked up the other author's and made it to page 13. I liked the writing a lot better, though the plot still seemed slow, but because I was tired I planned to pick it up the next day.
Thank goodness I was saved by the library.
I love to read Amanda Quick because of her quirky heroines and amusingly serious heroes.
Then my Barnes and Noble order came. YeeHaw!!
Beside my bed:
1. A Passion Redeemed by Julie Lessman. This is the second in the series and I'm already almost finished with it. This one seems even better than the first. Less dramatic but just as hooky and in a way, it has more depth. But that's probably just me because I'm sympathetic toward Charity. Or should I call her Scarlett? (wink, wink) Anyhow, I'm loving it!! Go CBA. In my opinion, Lessman is an author to keep an eye on.
2. Single Sashimi by Camy Tang. This is the third installment of her Sushi Series and I bought it for several reasons. A) I loved the first and second ones B) Tang is generous. I won the second book, Only Uni on a blog and when she sent it she also sent some extra books. I'm all about free books! :-) C) She helps authors out. See her Story Sensei blog.
3. Mulberry Park, by Judy Duarte. Although she's multipubbed with Harlequin, this is her first single title. I bought it because A) I wanted to support her debut Single Title, especially as it's a book close to her heart and B) Months ago on a writing link Duarte took time out of her day to exchange e-mails with me and give me some publishing tips.
So that's my pile.

My word count is not going as well as I had hoped...I'm off by about 2,000 words. You can't see me, but I'm hanging my head in shame as I type this comment.
Beside my bed right now is "Outlander" by Diana Gabaldon. I'm reading it because the gals in my group told me that my writing style in my fantasy vampire novel reminds them of her. So, of course I want to see who I'm being compared to! I haven't even started it yet, I've been so deep in my own writing bog over the past several days.

I'm still reading Widows & Orphans by Susan Meissner. It's in my desk at work, so I only read it when I work a full day (rare).
Sarah - I just finished The Shack and whipped through it in two sittings. Great story. The author has a blog you might want to check out.
I recently finished The Last Jihad by Joel Rosenberg. I've been wanting to read this forever and finally bought it. The book was action-packed and didn't disappoint. I'll probably be doing a review down the road.

I actually have the book Hadassah. And the Shack is a bestseller so I bet you'll like it. Make sure to tell me how Riven is. The title is intriguing.
I've never read Gabaldon but the name sounds familiar. I'll have to check her out, seeing as I'm so enamored with your writing style! :-)
I didn't actually finish those Amish books because they bored me. But the Amish crime story sounds very interesting. No wonder editors are foaming at the mouth for it! Let me know how things go for her.
I'll be keeping an eye out for your review. I like action-packed stories so this might be a read to pick up from the library.

One heating pad and a towel. Because I have had a stiff shoulder and the best relief I could find was moist heat as I lay down.
Oh, I wish I had some good books to read by my bed! Actually, I have the third book in a series I really like but I haven't finished reading the second one yet - and I lost it! But I did see the second book in the library at church...Yes. I will check it out Sunday and get back to reading.

Thank you for the comment on InSpire. I'm reading Julie's first novel, 'A Passion Most Pure'. Just started, but so far she has the knack at causing her readers to visualize place, and I really like that in a book.
I'm also reading 'Native Son' by J M Hockstetler. Joan's series is fantastic, and in my opinion one of the best historical series I've read, especially out of CBA. The era is the Revolution. She has a new novel to be released in 09 in the series entitled 'Wind of the Spirit'. She is so good, and it's a shame she doesn't have the recognition she deserves.
Oh, and if I may add, I hope someday you have a copy of 'Surrender the Wind' siting beside your bed. It's a romantic historical suspense novel set in Virginia and England, a page turner and will be released next fall.
I have TONS of books. Bet I could find you something good :-)
